General InterfaceThis section focuses on the basics of Smode.
It will list all the knowledge required in order to use Smode efficiently in a production. If you want to become a fluent user, you are welcome to read and come back to this part as often as needed.
Here is a list of all the different windows / tabs you will encounter inside of Smode (from top to bottom and left to right):
- Medias directories panel: Where all of your content medias are.
- Medias Pre-visualisation: Allow to see preview images of your contents. You can update them by doing a right click -> Update either on a file or a folder (beware that this will update preview of every child folders as well).
- Task Panel: Will show you every task currently running in Smode, such as preview images or when you Export a Video.
- Device panel: To manage all controllers / video inputs and outputs / sound etc.
- Viewport: There is 2 different viewport, 2D and 3D, with different behaviors each. Also 3D viewport will not take 2D effects in account so is faster
- Timeline/ Function Editor: To do animations or set up modifiers and generators containing curves or gradients.
- Element Tree: Where all the medias inside your composition will be (unlike any other compositing software, the first layer is on the bottom of the tree).
- Parameters Editor: whether you select an element (layer / modifier etc.) inside the element tree, an Track Block or a Keyframe, all of it's parameters will be accessible inside of this tab. You don't have to search further, everything is there. Some parameters are accessible only in advanced parameters mode (the icon on the top right of the parameters editor). Note that in function of the element, some parameters are exposed inside of the timeline or the element tree (such as the Blending Mode)

And here is what the function editor looks like in curve mode. Note that if a track is constituted of more than one dimention, you'll first have to separate it's dimentions (on the function column of the function editor, see on image above) in order to see it's curves.
SPLIT VIEW (in 3D mode):
You can also make a double click on the viewport in 3D mode to activate the 4 slitted view :
VISUALIZER (green arrow):
To see only an element or a modifier of the composition you can engage the visualizer mode which is the green arrow by the side of each Layer and Modifier.
This will allow you to see only the selected element :
If you engage this tool on a modifier then you'll be able to see the layer on which it is applied in a two state mode, before and after the modifier had been applied :
You can enlarge hide and show windows by passing the mouse over the windows borders and the double click on the arrow :
To make them appear again, just do the same operation again :
Keyboard Shortcut - Shortcuts in Smode can be found on menu Edit > Preferences > Keys and are all configurable
Value Manipulation - Here are listed several different ways to manipulate parameters precisely, to fine tune you compositions or stage setups.
Element Tree - Here are listed several different way to manipulate Elements inside the tree.
Parameters Editor - You don't have to search further, every parameters of a selected Element is there.
Task Panel - See the processes of Smode when exporting / encoding
Viewport - Where you see what is happening in Smode. You can do without it but what would be the point ?
Shader Editor - You want to code some Shader inside of Smode ? Here it is.
